Combining Floating and Grounded LNG Plant, LNG Storage, and
Power Units Offshore for Gas Field Developments
Dan Winkler, Director of Business Development, Gas Projects; MODEC International, Inc.
With the recent discoveries of large gas felds offshore, there is a need to bring the gas near shore for liquefaction,
storage, and transportation to local and international markets especially in regions where security is required.
The presentation will make a case for the monetization of large offshore gas felds with low-cost facilities.
Dan Winkler has over 30 years of experience in the offshore oil and gas industry, primarily in business development
and marketing/sales of foating production systems (FPSO, FSO, FLNG, FSRU, and foating water and power solutions)
and all types of mooring systems. Over the years, he has held senior positions at different companies managing
business development departments with world-wide activities and responsibilities. Winkler was a member of
multiple executive management teams and has experience in managing business units with P&L responsibility.
Semi with Storage: An Enabler for Gas Developments
Tom Ayers, VP; SBM Offshore
In the current market environment, smart and cost-effective solutions are needed to ensure offshore projects are
economically viable and can compete with the returns offered by their onshore counterparts. As the industry strives
to adapt and thrive, new solutions are emerging from proven technologies. One such innovation is a foating production
semi-submersible, with condensate storage and offoading, that can signifcantly reduce the infrastructure and cost
required to develop gas felds with condensate present. This presentation will discuss the concept’s potential benefts
to the industry
Tom Ayers is the VP of FPU globally for SBM Offshore, responsible for EPC delivery of semi-submersible and TLP
production platforms. Previously, Ayers held various positions in Technip, with the last role of COO of Offshore for
